Mabika has knee Scoped

The Comets sent a press release announcing this news a few minutes ago...

HOUSTON (July 2, 2008) – Mwadi Mabika, a 5-11 starting guard for the Houston Comets, underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage on her right knee. The surgery was successful and she will spend the next four to six weeks completing rehabilitation.

Mabika has started in 10 of the 13 games in which she’s played this season, posting averages of 6.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. A Los Angeles Spark for 11 years, Mabika was signed as a free agent by the Houston Comets on February 20, 2008.

The Comets (7-9) will try to keep the Atlanta Dream (0-16) winless Thursday night as the teams face each other in the ATL. Tip is set for 6:05 pm CDT.

Kris, was Mabika's knee recently injured or is this another case of the coach/GM bringing in a broken-down ex-Spark, knowing they aren't healthy enough to play all season?

Any update on Dixon? And is Byears getting in shape after her injury?

    See what I mean?

Houston teams love being the Old Folks home.

Karleen has rebuilt an aging team into an older team, as someone so eloquently mentioned to me.

Not to mention how well loved Mabika is in the league.

Mwadi has had knee problems in the past. In 2005, she had arthroscopic surgery on her right knee to repair a cartilage tear. Therefore, problems with her right knee are not new.

No update on Dixon; so, she's still dealing with her sore Achilles'.

Most likely, Byears will have to play her way into shape.
